The Leonberger Breed: Online Resources
Below are some of the resources that have helped us along the way and we wholeheartedly recommend them to you. While we may not agree with every idea or suggestion in every resource, on the whole they are a treasure trove of information and insight.
The Leonberger Club of America
The Leonberger Club of America is the club that started it all; they are the official founding registry and breed club for the Leonberger in the United States. The LCA has heaps of information for how you can get involved as a Leonberger fancier and beyond. Learn more about the LCA here.
The Leonberger Health Foundation
Founded in 2000, they work closely with the LCA to monitor trends in the health of leonbergers. This mission of Leo Health is to raise funds for canine research that will improve the health of the Leonberger by increasing knowledge and understanding of canine diseases.
Leo Watch (HREC Committee of the LCA)
Leo Watch is the home of the
Health, Research, and Education Committee. They work to
identify health concerns, determine their impact on the breed, research
those problems, make recommendations to the LCA Board, and to
educate the LCA Membership.
Leonberger Rescue
Those
little Leonberger puppies don't stay little for long! Whether
folks weren't
prepared for a giant dog living in their house or unfortunate
circumstances arise, adult leonbergers find themselves looking for a
new forever home. As the Southeast reps, we occasionally have
our hands full.
More helpful hands are always welcome!
Canine Health Information Center
Healthy
Leonberger puppies come from healthy Leonberger parents! CHIC
provides a source of health information for owners and breeders that
assists in the breeding and adoption of healthy dogs. For
everyone interested in Leonberger health, CHIC provides a tool to
measure the frequency of disease and breed progress toward the
elimination of
disease.
Poythress Studios
The
wonderful, studio-lit portraits on this website were done by Stacey
Poythress of Poythress Studios. She is amazing and we are
glad we
can share them with our visitors. We are particularly
grateful
for the patience she had photographing seven frisky Leonberger puppies
from our "B" Litter. What an awesome shot! Please feel free

Starhaven Kuvasz and Leonbergers
Agi and Shawn Hejja are very knowledgeable, dedicated breeders of kuvasz and leonbergers. They produce wonderful leonbergers for conformation and for companionship. Agi serves as a mentor for our own breeding program; when we need advice she is number one on the speed dial. Absolutely beautiful leonbergers and the most adorable puppies on the planet.
Redwood Trail Leonbergers
Breeding
occassionally, Sandy pays tons of attention to her beautiful Leonberger
puppies. She has beautiful leos from Starhaven (above) and is a
wonderful home from which to get your new Leonberger companion.
