About Us

We live simple lives in a small town in central North Carolina where we both teach in the public schools.  Middle school technology students work with Mr. Townsend and high school band students work with Mrs. Townsend.  While engaged and in college, we discovered leonbergers, a very rare breed at the time.

Our first leo, "Osa", jumpstarted our passion for leonbergers.  Since 1999, we have become involved in all aspects of dog ownership and breeding.  We feel strongly about our commitment to the leonberger breed.  We participate in the national and regional clubs as well as take an active role in our local "dog" community.  Our love of leonbergers and commitment to the breed has made several long lasting friendships!

If you're active in leonbergers and our names ring a bell, it's probably from one of these roles:

Leonberger Club of America Breeding Committee Member

Breeding Committee chair for the BACL

Southeast Regional Reps for Leonberger Rescue

Leonberger Club of America Stud Book Coordinator

Co-Chairs for the 2007 Leonberger National Specialty in Asheville North Carolina

Vice President for the Southeast Leonberger Club

Treasurer of the Southeast Leonberger Club

Events Chair for the Southeast Leonberger Club

Leonberger Club of America Member Kennel

And we're just starting! Who knows where these amazing animals will take us in the future? If you have questions or would like to know more about living with and caring for leonbergers as well as health issues that affect the breed, please feel free to email us, or check out some of  the following links.
